Frontline Breakthrough! It was late 1944 and Germany was clearly losing the war. Russia was closing in on the Eastern front while American bombing raids were devastating German cities. Italy had been liberated and the Allies were quickly moving through France and the Low Counties. The end looked near for Germany unless they could succeed in a great offensive push, which is exactly what they attempted. On Dec 16, 1944, an American sentry reported countless "pinpoints of light" flickering along the German line. Seconds later, shells exploded around him and he realized that the lights were the muzzle flashes of hundreds of German guns. A massive German counteroffensive was underway along the 85-mile Ardennes front. In the north, the Sixth Panzer Army struck the U.S. 99th and 2nd Divisions. In the center, the fifth Panzer Army hit the 106th Division, the 14th Cavalry Group and part of the 28th Di (1)

STOL was a rare achievement which was wonderfully performed nearly 70 years ago. At a glance this plane looks delicate but, each detail was necessary for it to be able to perform as it was intended to. A lot of effort and thought had gone into the Fi156 design which adds to its charm. For instance it's slim body and broad wing span, wide range of view, and its take off and landing ability, nothing was forgotten. In addition it was equipped with an air cooled lengthwise engine called the handstand V-8 to keep the body on the small side. It is said that the Fieseler Fi156 is rare in history because of its continued use in many countries (1)

B "KingTiger" VK4503(H) was the most powerful combat tank of World War II. Up to the end of the war, the Allies did not introduce anything that could effectively counter it. The Tiger II combined a powerful and effective gun with armor that was virtually impervious to any Allied tank or anti-tank gun. Planning for the Tiger II started as early as May 1941, a year before the Tiger I entered production. By the fall of 1942/January 1943, designers started work on a new heavy tank that would eventually replace the Tiger I. In January 1943, Hitler ordered the new Tiger to be armed with a long 88mm gun and have 150mm frontal armor and 80mm side armor.
