Band Hero on erityisen suosittu perhe- ja juhlapelinä helpon pelattavuuden ja joustavan moninpelin ansiosta. Pelissä on paljon sisältöä, erilaisia tiloja ja se toimii monien olemassa olevien soittimien kanssa. Kappalelista on kuitenkin melko pieni ja painottuu vahvasti popmusiikkiin, mikä ei miellytä kaikkia. Lisämaksut kappaleiden tuonnista ja kalibrointiongelmat ovat yleisiä miinuksia. Graafista tyyliä pidetään geneerisenä. Satunnaisille pelaajille ja perheille peli on hauska valinta, mutta syvyyttä kaipaaville musiikin ystäville kannattaa etsiä muuta.

I used to have the game for my Wii but had gotten rid of it. Recently, I was missing the game and how fun it was to play so I bought a used version for my Xbox. I opened it and noticed off the bat that the set was dirty and dusty. I didn’t mind that but then as I was setting everything up, I noticed the one of the drumsticks was broken, splintered and taped together. I was disappointed but tried not to mind it too much. I was absolutely gutted to find out when I connected everything and got to playing that a part of my favorite instrument of the game, the drums, was not working (one of the cymbals, and yes I looked up how to fix it but it was falling apart). That was the final straw for me as I paid $235 for a used-‘excellent’ condition but it was pretty much the opposite. So sad to have to return this but it not much use broken. Note: none of these damages were disclaimed in the description!

The Taylor Songs were older, so my daughter didn't know them. We did enjoy the Spice Girls and a few other songs, but for the most part, the song selection wasn't that great.

It had to happen at some point; following the success of Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Lips and Singstar, at some point someone was going to try and merge them all together! Lo and behold, here we are with Band Hero - dialed back is the thrashing of Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and to replace it we've got some pop songs! I think this was probably a last-ditch attempt to extract as much as possible from the genre and try and make it to appeal to a wider audience, oooooh look - there's Taylor Swift! To be fair, the makers did a pretty good job of this; a large selection of music to play along to, and making it so you could use controllers from either Rock Band or Guitar Hero - this and the ability to import and export songs to other Guitar Hero titles, makes this a worthwhile venture. GH / RB purists will probably not enjoy this, but anyone who played the previous games and wished for some songs that were a bit more mainstream, will love it!

I recommend checking the track listing to make sure that these songs are the ones that you want; good advice for any music game really but specifically required for this game. Why? The songs on this are less "uber guitar" and more pop friendly. I find that my teenagers play this game when their friends are over more than the rock bands just because their friends agree more on the music in this game than some of the older "guitar classics" found in other games in the rock band/guitar hero genre. All of my wired and wireless Rock Band and Guitar Hero instruments worked with this game.
