Coming from someone who plays harvest moon and animal crossing this is super boring. The cube structure and simplicity does not do the game any justice. There is also is really annoying beeping/chirping like noises when changing the landscape. I've tried to play this twice and it's just not happening. I like boring simulation games so this says a lot to be 1 star.

This game combines God-like/Sandbox game modes with time and resource management aspects found in games like Sims and Harvest Moon. The music, colors, and sounds make it such a relaxing experience. The gameplay is somewhat simple, so play this game if you enjoy these modes or you want to chill out. My only complaint is that the story mode is somewhat short. I honestly didn't expect a story mode but was pleasently surprised. However, this story mode sort of teases you and ends quickly. For many that will be great, as it allows you to enjoy the Free Play mode that many will fall in love with.

Cubed3 Rating Slow, methodical, and deliberate, Happy Birthdays is at times frustrating, but only because it's genuinely engaging premise demands an attention to detail and level of care. Its biggest fault is that much of the experience occurs at the player rather than with the player. With that said, watching evolution occur on a grand scale through one simple action is an impressive and exciting feat. Cubes do require interaction to keep evolution moving smoothly, as well, so it isn't as if everything can be auto-played, just that more interactivity would have benefitted the game overall. At its core, Happy Birthdays is a creation simulator and one that won't resonate with everyone, but those who do end up jiving with the title will certainly find something worthwhile to take away.
