The Legend Of Heroes: Trails Of Cold Steel PS4:llä tarjoaa syvän vuoropohjaisen taistelujärjestelmän ja vahvan tarinan hyvin kehitetyillä hahmoilla. Turbo-tila nopeuttaa taisteluita ja tutkimista, mikä on erityisen mukavaa pitkillä pelisessioilla. Tiimin muokkausmahdollisuuksia on paljon, mikä miellyttää strategisia pelaajia. Grafiikka ja animaatiot ovat kuitenkin selvästi vanhentuneita, ja tarina etenee hitaasti, mikä ei sovi kaikille. Myös runsas valikkotyö voi tuntua kömpelöltä. Klassisten JRPG-pelien ystäville tämä on silti suositeltava valinta.

I’ll keep this short and sweet: Trails of Cold Steel is everything I hoped and wanted it to be. It feels like an amalgamation of Persona meets Fullmetal Alchemist. It’s lighthearted, but also deep. The characters all grow on you and are very interesting. The gameplay is in some ways old school, but it’s somehow still fresh and fun. I’m digging the gameplay loop, the combat, story, environments, characters and their complex relationships, etc. I want to see what happens next to the group and to the main protagonist who is, by the way, very likable. Trails is an amazing gem and I’d highly recommend either the Vita or recently released PS4 definitive version. Either way, you’re in for a treat. It’s a love letter to the JRPG genre.

Wow, what a hidden gem. Great game with a suprisingly good story. I get bored quickly, but the characters kept my interest until the end. After finishing the game (which took me a couple of months), I immediately popped in Trials of Cold Steel II. The gameplay has enough changes as the story progresses that it is hard to get bored.
