Dragon Quest VIII:aa 3DS:llä kehutaan vahvasta tarinasta, viehättävistä hahmoista ja parannetusta pelattavuudesta. Näkyvät viholliset ja nopeammat taistelut tekevät pelistä helpommin lähestyttävän ja vähemmän turhauttavan kuin aiemmat versiot. Uudet hahmot ja lisäsisältö lisäävät uudelleenpeluuarvoa. Grafiikka on hieman heikompaa kuin PS2:lla ja alkuperäinen orkesterimusiikki puuttuu, mikä harmittaa joitain faneja. Taistelujen väliset latausajat voivat olla ärsyttäviä, mutta kokonaisuutena tämä on yksi parhaista klassisista JRPG-peleistä, erityisesti genren ystäville.

10 heures de jeu et l'histoire ne semble pas très intéressante, rien de réinventé dans le gameplay, mais quand même plaisant en général (assez pour vouloir continuer)
