Sonic Generations PS3:lla saa kiitosta ainutlaatuisesta klassisen 2D-tasohyppelyn ja modernin 3D-nopeuden yhdistelmästä, mikä tekee siitä houkuttelevan sekä vanhoille että uusille faneille. Nostalgiset kentät ja ikoninen musiikki tuovat tunnistettavuutta, ja HD-grafiikka pitää ilmeen tuoreena. Sisältöä ja vaihtelua riittää erilaisten haasteiden ansiosta. 3D-ohjaus voi kuitenkin olla turhauttavaa hitaassa vauhdissa, eivätkä kaikki lisätehtävät ole yhtä hauskoja tai hyvin suunniteltuja. Osa kentistä on vähemmän inspiroivia. Kaiken kaikkiaan pakollinen Sonic-faneille, mutta tasalaatuista laatua kaipaavien kannattaa huomioida nämä seikat.
