Skull & Bones (Xbox Series X)

Na het succesvolle Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag smeekte een meute fans Ubisoft om een échte piratengame te ontwikkelen waarin naval combat én meer centraal zou staan. Black Flag maar dan zonder de Assassijnen. Na jaren ontwikkelingshel en vele delays lichtte Skull & Bones eindelijk het anker. Het kreeg de wind van voren van internationale pers, maar bij Pragalicious vonden we, mits de nodige rumconsumatie, toch nog enkele redenen waarom de game voor heel wat plezier kan zorgen!

Skull & Bones is a fantastic sea-sim with all the best bits of being a pirate taken out.

Skull & Bones Review (PS5 ) – Well, the time has finally come where Ubisoft’s pirate RPG is upon us. The long-awaited and much delayed, so-called ‘AAAA’ title Skull & Bones is in the hands of players and, to be honest, I’m quite struggling to understand what took them so long. It’s a relatively fun game, enjoyable at times but I just have so many complaints I feel this may well soon be doomed to the briny deep.

11 years after Black Flag, Ubisoft finally brings out the pirate game most have been asking for. But was the wait worth it? Tough to say at this point. There are a lot of impressive elements such as the combat, controls and typical pirate-y stuff…but the live service element puts a question mark over where it has the staying power to survive. The ship is under fire currently, but hopefully updates over the future will give it a chance to fight back against the tide.
