Grease was a hit when it released and has become a cultural icon with serious staying power, now 40 years since its debut. For the film's milestone anniversary, Paramount has re-released the favorite on Blu-ray with a brand-new 1080p transfer and a new multichannel soundtrack (though in the same Dolby TrueHD 5.1 configuration as the previous release). A few new extras are included, on top of the prodigious pile of supplements from the previous edition. However, the UHD offers an improved picture quality. Recommended, but 4K capable fans should go with that version instead, even if it disappointingly lacks special packaging.

It's not because this is my all-time favorite film in the whole world, but I truly believe this is a wonderful transfer. As a huge fan, I could also be a harsher critic of the PQ and sound, but to be honest.....I'm quite pleased with this. My ONLY complaint is that we should be offered the ORIGINAL music score as heard in theaters, as an option to this souped-up version created for the home video. Not that I don't enjoy the extra back-up vocals and echoes here and there, because it sounds not-too-bad, but having the original sound track would be a nice addition. If they ever release another anniversary edition, I would also hope for the 'Sing-Along Edition' with the animated lyrics and graphics as a special feature. All in all, I will continue tom revisit this film whenever I am feeling down and out, because it always picks me right up and makes me smile.

The review says the bass is powerful and it is but, could be better if it were actually 5.1 but it's not. After all, this film is so mediocre as popular and brings memories of my childhood. I enjoy it when I see it.

Horrible movie, with people trying to hard to be cool. If they took the singing away it might be watchable.It is one of the most cheesy movies ever.I hate movies that break out into a song after every little thing.
