I bought this for 14-16 hour hikes that I do throughout summer and a few upcoming 24 hour hikes. I upgraded from the Forerunner 945 and wish I did sooner. I have already used this for a few 14 hour hikes and was surprised by how little battery was used. 86% remained in ultra run mode. I’m glad I got this over the fenix 8 as battery life is the priority (I don’t need a dive watch). I also am happy to stay with a MIP screen versus switching to an AMOLED sports watch.

Big update after my fenix 6 died. I did not want all the smart options. My main concern was battery life.

Really nice watch. A definite step up from my old Garmin Forerunner 55. The battery life is great. The flash light is handy. More detailed sleep / run / bike analysis is good. I switched the calendar and weather off on my 55 because it tanked the battery. No such problem here. Having sat nav on the watch is good when you're cycling. Is this watch worth £530 more than my old 55? Difficult question to answer. The 55 is a decent multi activity sports watch with good battery life and it's much smaller. I'd say definitely yes if you're into endurance events or are away from power for an extended time. The big battery and the solar recharging are something that I don't think any other smart watch offers. If not then £530 over a 55 is a lot of money.

This a little gem from Garmin. Not many concider it. It is simply the most capable watch Garmin makes with the best relationship between features, specs, materials, performance and price. It isnt cheap, but it performs like a more expensive watch. The Garmin Enduro 3 is the everything watch.
