Michelin Pilot Alpin 5:ttä pidetään laajasti yhtenä parhaista high‑performance‑talvirenkaista. Kuljettajat ja testit korostavat erinomaista pitoa kuivalla ja märällä tiellä kylmissä lämpötiloissa sekä erittäin tarkkaa ohjausta ja hyvää vakautta suuremmissa nopeuksissa ja sporttisessa ajossa. Myös lumella suorituskyky on vahva UHP‑talvirenkaaksi, ja kuluminen on pientä, joten käyttöikä on pitkä. Samalla rengas on melutasoltaan kohtuullisen hiljainen ja mukavuus on hyvä luokan huomioiden. Haittoina ovat korkea hinta ja hieman heikompi sivuttaisvesiliirtosuoja. Osa käyttäjistä kokee ajon melko kovaksi, ja jääpito on ennemmin keskitasoa kuin huippuluokkaa. Ostajalle, joka on valmis maksamaan enemmän talviturvallisuudesta ja ajonautinnosta, se on silti erittäin vahva vaihtoehto.

Très bonne tenue de route, assez silencieux, très bonne prise dans la neige et très pneus qui bonne tenue sur la glace, répond bien sur la route en hiver, dans les courbes et sur les arrêts. Je les recommande.

Great winter tires for a performance car (2026 VW GTI Autobahn). They are quiet, comfortable. The car handles lioke it was on rails on twisty mountain roads and Interstates. Excellent for snow and ice winter conditions and excellent when roads are dry or wet (unlike other winter tires).

I live in Calgary where winters have constant thawing and freezing cycles, making road conditions treacherous at times. These are very capable tires when new or slightly worn and have decent tread durability. At approximately 35,000 Kms with timely tire rotations and maintaining pressures regularly, they are now worn down evenly to 6/32nds of an inch remaining (approx. 50% worn). I was hoping to get another winter out of them, but I no longer feel safe driving on icy surfaces as they don`t grip nearly as well as they used to. Perhaps my expectations are unreasonable, but I am a bit disappointed in their deterioration in traction, stability and performance at this stage.
