Festool Jyrsintätuki OF-FH 2200

I've had this Router for a little under 2 years. I bought it during a big build for 2" deep grooves and some big mortises. Using a router can be somewhat scary depending on the operation you're performing. This was one of them. Between using the edge guide and the OF2200 I was perfectly confident and the ergonomics made performing these tasks incredibly easy. The controls are well laid out. Dust collection is fantastic, though I recommend using a 36MM hose versus the 27MM hose to avoid clogging. I would suggest the accessory kit for the edge guide, rail adapter, and interchangeable base plates.

I don't often write reviews, but this is the coolest power tool ever. I did not give it a 5 because it does not fit a router table and it is bulky and heavy. I am not a real woodworker but the adjustability and all the customization 2200 watts and 3.5 hp was great but I want the festool router table because it is metal and neat, but this router does not fit it so I am going to buy the smaller cheaper one so it fits the table. Seems silly to use the big bulky router like that the setup time vice gripping each piece of wood at a funny angle and trying to move this machine over it just sounds not user friendly but I am not a woodworker. I would think a flagship router would fit a flagship table.

What a shame it would be to hide this precision router under a table. But with this much power you could consider doing just that. However I would recommend this innovative tool to be used by hand for the bigger routing jobs in the shop. Buy a less expensive (non-Festool) 3HP router for your table. The controls, especially the incremental height adjustment are amazing and allow intuitive fine tuning. The ratcheted collett is slick, however even with the sustainer kit, there is no 1/4" collett included, hence my 4 stars. Highly recommended for use with the rail system (same one the festool plunge saw uses) This pair takes the hesitancy out of making big cuts through expensive wood. Dust collection is Festool perfect and the easy to switch base plates make the flexibility of this tool above anything else out there.

You can hardly tell this is as heavy and powerful as it is! It's an amazing router and eats anything you throw at it. I wish I had got it sooner. I do suggest the imperial kit because the guide rail base and the accessories are well worth the money.
