Not as powerful as makita's other 4x24 belt sander but powerful enough. This sander will hog out surfaces and on a slow speed, polish them. Makita makes great tools-- I have found that their high end woodworking equipment easily competes with Mafell.

Works well at multi speeds but have not yet used it at constant high speed for a long time. Like the features as belts can be replaced easily

I recieved this belt sander used when I ordered new. So other than it being used, it is a very nice belt sander. It is balanced well, tracks nice and, has plenty of power for most tasks. I was debating on whether to buy the model 9403 with the 11 amp motor but honestly I was surprised with the power that this model has and I'm happy with this model due to variable speed.Overall a good belt sander that seems to be built with quality and should hold up for many years but, when your expecting an item to be NEW it should be NEW not USED.

I returned the Porter Cable after it broke on me the first week, returned the Hitachi because I didn't like it after the first day, returned another beefy Makita because it didn't have variable speed but THIS, This one is awesome. Great design and feel, tracks well, easy to change paper... powerful...
