Fred is like our new pet! He's really cute, and every once in a while he makes a gurgle that sounds exactly like my cat right before he barfs. So I hear that noise and go running into the room to intercept cat barf, but it's just Fred, sitting there looking cute, making my room so much more pleasant to be in. Aw, thanks, Fred! I was DELIRIOUSLY happy to discover that I could refill Fred's shallow reservoir in my bathroom sink, and no longer had to use the tub spigot downstairs, hauling water like a peasant. Thanks, Fred! We've got mighty hard water here, so Fred does have a tendency to get very crusty very fast. A weekly descaling is MANDATORY, but it's very easy to do because the humidifier is thoughtfully designed. Thanks, Stadler Form's industrial designers! I looked at a LOT of humidifiers, and I couldn't be happier with Fred.

Finally, a cool looking warm mist humidifier. Well-made, quiet, love it.

Bought this originally back in 2010 and just replaced it with a new model. Hands down my favorite humidifier and I have tried many. Very simple design that boils the water to let off water vapor. No filters to clean. Heating plate needs to have lime removed like all steam heat humidifiers. Runs for about 8 hours on full power and gets my 15 foot by 14 foot bedroom up to a 60% humidity level even with my forced air heat constantly entering the room. No sound and never had any problems with leakage. Highly recommended if you like steam heat over cool heat.

One of the legs broke pretty soon after use, and it does get pretty damn hot, and quickly. Performs as advertised
