Sharp, Sharp, Sharp

View is extremely sharp, crisp and contrasty in center 60%, with a large sweet spot because of wide field of view of 8 degrees. View is clearly usable to the very edge, unlike for the Nikon 8x30 . A porthole immersion view results that is engaging. Edges of straight lines and details in view are clear and sharp. Significantly sharper than my Swarovski EL 10x42 WB, Swarovski 8x25 compact Mountain and Nikon 8x32 HG (way too heavy, but best focusing smoothness ever). Focusing could be smoother, but OK. Just a tad big and heavy for an 8x32. Fits perfectly in Nikon 8x30 case. Its own case and strap are a bit clunky. Well made and warranted. A terrific value. Reasonably comfortable to hold. Rain guard and strap are just fine if you know how to use them.

Outstanding glass

Great binoculars and they even have a built-in way of keeping track of the lens covers. Don't know they are worth the extra cost from a good $400-500 pair.

Very good bins, but the protective front lens...

No doubt the Conquest 8x32 HD is an outstanding equipment for its price. I bought two of them (one for me, one for my son), and unfortunately one of the front lens cap that I received in the original box belongs to a 10x model and do not fit my bin! This is a problem, because I live in Colombia (South America) and getting the original caps will be a problem. There is a risk for lenses being scratched, and the durability of the optics is jeopardized. A shame that this happens - it makes you think if the bins were refurbished or used by a previous customer. Someone handled the box in the wrong way, either in the fabrication facility or in the BH Store.

Interesting Comparison with Zeiss 8x32 Victory

I own both the Zeiss 8x32 Conquest and the Zeiss 8x32 T FL Victory, and found some interesting points of comparison. If I were a hunter (I am a bird watcher instead) I would find the Conquest BETTER than the Victory, as there is just the smallest amount of higher contrast in the Conquest. If instead I am looking for a window that exactly replicates the tones and contrast of a scene, I prefer the Victory. IGiven the Conquest is less than half the price of the Victory it says a lot for it. If the ultimate sense of contrast and crispness is uppermost, then the Victory wins. As to the width of field - the binocs are equal. Both Conquest and Victory could likely be run over by a truck and still work. If I was comparing to Nikon Monarch 5 (we have those) I would give the Conquest 5 stars, but comparing with the 5-star Victory, the Conquest gets 4.

Very sharp but flawed otherwise

Very sharp view in center of field. Ok for the price elsewhere in the field of view. Has a bit of chromatic aberration but is not problematic. I didn't like the ergonomics, as the eyecups do not adjust smoothly. I mean that it is extremely rough. This is very weird for an expensive product. Also the friction on the focusing wheel is too loose and the focus changes too rapidly when turning the wheel. I found it a pain to focus precisely and keep it there. I returned these. I once tried the Zeiss top of the line and the view is even better than these all over and the ergonomics are infinitely better, and a pleasure to use. Too bad they cost a fortune but sometimes you just have to pay the piper to get top of the line quality.
