This is actually a mixed review: I've had this toaster for years and it still works well. BUT -- and this is a huge drawback-- the exterior, which is made of rubber, becomes tacky with age. I've tried cleaning it with various techniques, but it just gets stickier and stickier. I wish they had put the electrical components, which clearly work well enough to last 12 years (so far, and counting) inside a case that would last as long.

I rarely post a three-star review. Glad this is made in the USA. Very sad at how cheap the plastic is. Also, can only use the lowest setting; otherwise, toast burns.

Just received the toaster yesterday. I love the materials on the outside of the toaster, and it is hot enough to satisfactorily create a nice crispy crust while leaving the center of the bread soft (my favorite kind of toast). If you toast oversized pieces of bread you will be unhappy with this product since the openings accommodate a regular piece of bread. I'm hoping that I will be just as happy with this product years from now.

We recently replaced a Bodum toaster that stopped toasting on 1 side and wanted another due to how good this toaster is.

Very disappointed that after a few months, the bread won't stay down. It toasts great, and after years of trying to make do with just a toaster oven, and a disappointment with a Sunbeam toaster that broke in a matter of weeks, I was very pleased with this Bodum. However, this morning, when I tried to make toast, the bread wouldn't stay down. I held the knob for 3 minutes, and got good toast, but the bread is supposed to stay down until it gets toasted.
