This a strong, versatile bracket but the cold shoe is the weak point. Its plastic and if you make a sudden move with a flash attached it will break and down goes the flash. And youre holding a $54 piece of useless junk.

This is a great clamp. There are some minor problems that Manfrotto could fix very easily: 1. The cold shoe needs a hole such that my Nikon speedlights can lock into the shoe. 2. The clamp needs to open up just a couple of millimeters more. You should be able to clamp it to any stud or joist around your shoot. Make the clamp able to fit over a 2x4. 3. The clamp should have a feature that locks the jaws open for storage so the rubber pads are not pinched together. This is the #1 thing that will age or crack the rubber pads. I use a couple of small blocks of wood to do the same.

Love this item and own a few - perfect when you need a flash in a small confined space where there is no room for a light stand. Also comes in real handy for accent lighting as well - clamp is strong enough to clamp on to any surface/pole/stand, and can even be used stand alone - swivel head gives a 180 degrees in any direction.

Works great. The rubbery gripper nubs hold even slick items. The mounting hub has a secure fit.

Overall the clamp works great and I loved being able to place my flash pretty much anywhere on the go, BUT the flash shoe that holds your expensive flash is built cheap. The plastic ended up snapping off letting my flash fall on the hard surface below. Luckily the flash only receive scratches from the fall.
