I use a nikon 1.7 teleconverter with my lens fairly regularly. This ring does a perfect job of centering the weight of the combined camera/extender/lens over my tripod. Handlingis quick and secure with this accessory.

It does what its supposed to do. I dont like the fact as others have stated that the tightening knob becomes loose very easily when you dont expect it to. I dont feel that the quality is so outstanding that Nikon feels they should be charging $165.00 for something that should be included with the lens.

I purchased this mount ring because I was concerned about too much weight on the lens mount. After using it the last month or so, it has more play in the ring than I would like. I of course make certain I have tightened the knob to the max.

Typical Nikon quality and a bit pricey. I bought it for use on the Nikkor 70-200F4 and honestly feel the tripod collar should have been included. Peter

I am using this with the 300mm PE lens. While it fits well, the tightening knob does not stay tightened and loosens when carrying the lens. I am using a sling strap attached to this and the collar loosens frequently. I have to check it several times a day to verify it is tight. Knowing Nikon's quality issues lately, this does not surprise me. Still think it is better than the generic rings though.
