Good Points: Image quality is fantastic for a crop sensor lens

I chose this 15-85mm lens as an upgrade to the 18-55mm kit lens that came with camera (originally a 100D, now using it with a 90D). I prefer landscape photography, so the wider end of the zoom is useful to me and was the reason I opted for this particular mid-range zoom. It saves me changing out to a 10-18mm as often, and I find with it going up to 85mm it also covers plenty of other useful scenarios. So far I'm finding image quality excellent, and the zoom range makes for a great walkabout lens for my needs. Build quality is solid, it's quite a heavy lens and I've read about lens creep in other reviews - my copy doesn't creep at present, but I can feel how it wouldn't take much. Not really a problem for how I'm using it though. Overall it's far superior to the kit lens in build quality, image quality, and overall features (as it should be at the price point). I picked it up in a warehouse deal and so the value seems particularly good.

This versatile standard zoom lens can cover everything from landscapes and cityscapes through to group, full-body and head-and-shoulders portraits. Although larger and heavier than Canon’s cheaper EF-S kit zooms, it affords greater control over depth of field for working with selective focus techniques. Although the rotary zoom mechanism extends the inner barrel of the lens, internal focusing means the front element does not rotate, making using a polariser or graduated filter straightforward. The built-in stabilisation makes it useful for shooting movie clips. The extremely fast and near silent AF drive is controlled by an ultrasonic motor and full-time manual override is available in one-shot AF mode. The rudimentary weatherproofing means care is required when shooting outdoors, particularly in moist and dusty conditions, where contaminants may enter the mechanism.

This lens is nothing short of amazing! The focal range you have on it is so great for whatever you want to shoot. The fact that this is an f/2.8 zoom lens and is only $500 (used) is amazing. Do not buy it if you do not have a crop sensored camera, or a modifier that will allow you to use it. I use it with the Canon SL2 (D200) and it is a great combination. I use this lens for 70-80% of my work since I am working on a budget. Definitely worth the money!

Great lens with fast aperture and I.S! Use this lens for video work with C200 and C300mkii cameras. It's super sharp, light weight and a good zoom range for run and gun filming. Obviously not built as strong as an L series.... But at this price point you can't go wrong with this lens.
