Good Points: I traded up my 500mm lens and am very pleased so far - especially as it's no heavier. It also comes in a well padded soft case which is more practical than the hard case of my 500mm lens. Results so far have been very good and I'm confident will be excellent as I get to know it.

I have rented the 600m is ii on many occasions, loved the images but this lens in next level. First and foremost, the weight is ridiculously light. I did my first 5 days on vacation and carried the lens on several 5 mile photo hikes, it was awesome. The lens on a monopod is easy to handle and its fast! The image quality is mind blowing, detail is spot on, fast focus on birds in flight and great low light performance with little noise interference. Its an investment, but homestly the best equipment decision I have ever made. I love it.

This lens is amazingly fast focusing and super sharp!! I am a small woman and it is not too heavy for me. I can actually hand hold it for short periods of time!! Canon hit it out of the park on this one!!

I got my 600mm III last week and took it out for a 3 mile hike to shoot some birds. The weight and balance are very nice, it is still a LARGE lens so know what you are buying. That said, the focus is amazingly fast, and the pictures on my 5D-IV are very sharp as you would expect for one of Canons super lenses. With my 7D-ii I have an effective 960mm FL and great shots of medium to smaller birds. After hand holding for over three hours and taking a few hundred photos my shoulder was a little sore, but will keep shooting handheld or on a mono-pod for the next few weekends.
