Laowa C-Dreamer Lightweight Micro 4/3 7.5mm F/2 Lens

beautiful image and extremely sharp lens once I got used to the very fine focus control towards infinity.

I have a couple of smaller Micro Four Thirds cameras and wanted an ultra wide angle lens which was not too unwieldy on them - especially my Panasonic GM1. So this lens seemed like a good solution. Fortunately it is . It feels robust and well made. The manual focus ring feels really nice. It does not feel out of place on my GM1. It is roughly the same size as an Olympus 45mm f/1.8. The image quality is excellent too . The other thing I did notice is how much fun it is to use.

My purpose in acquiring this lens was two fold, firstly to squeeze the widest perspective out of interior or confined shots, and secondly the position and perspective of buildings of buildings in the landscape. I had toyed with the idea of buying the manual only view of this lens, but I could not give up the convenience of an auto aperture lens. I also had to convince myself that my slower 9mm lens was not adequate in these circumstances. The 7.5mm Laowa full fills both purposes I had set, and the extra 1.5mm makes an amazing difference to both.

I am a pilot and since the beginning, it has been next to impossible to take a really nice picture of the WHOLE cockpit during flight, and when it's really important, at night under the Northern Lights. The widest lenses I've had to use create extreme fish eye effect and the widest without distortion dont come nearly close enought to fitting the whole cockpit in the shot. The Laowa 7.5mm gets both side windows in the shot along with the entire cockpit panel with minimum fish eye effect. With tiny details such as the gauges, it is very important to have a crisp photo right to the edges as well. Right down to f/2 is even clear enough around the edges to get a good shot. This is a very niche subject to be shooting but this lens was made for it. Perfect.

Very small lens, suites the BMPCC 4K quite well. Surprisingly this lens has no distortion which is something you get on most ultra wides. Looking forward to putting this lens through its paces.
