Very solid drive that just works. Compatible with everything I've tried. No complaints.

I purchased 2 of these to replace units in 2 Hp laptops 17"3 touch screen Envys. They fit perfectly after I unscrewed the mounting tab hardware on the old drives and put them on the new ones (easy to do) The units came with version 1.03 firmware. DVDFab tool was able to downgrade them to 1.00 (you must insert a 4k disk and let it scan the disk first then start the procedure) and I was able to watch and backup my 4k movies to my movie server. Your laptop must have the correct HDMI output or display port and 4k tv as well as correct display software mentioned in other reviews). (Use Cyberlink Blu-Ray advisor to verify 4k compatibility with intel 8th generation processor on your computer though you don't have to worry about any of that if you are just making backups of your personal 4k movies to store on your server) I have not had good luck with LG 5.25 drives in desktops in the past so I am hoping these last longer than the desktop versions.

What's t like except the price and the guarantee.? I installed it in my system. It worked fine in read mode but faailed to write CDs and DVDs. The process would begin, but failed as soon as writing started. My disc writing software would not even recognize BluRay capability. I returned it for a refund. I am now looking at an external writer.

I like that it's a UHD drive and after updating the firmware via the instructions on the MakeMKV forums it does everything you'd want it to. My only complaint is it's a lot louder than the drive that was originally in my HP laptop.

I purchased this because the old internal LG BluRay drive I was using, was too big to fit into my new computer, which is a shame because the quality is superior :-) This works fine, but I have put some data back on HDD from my BluRay Backups and occasionally it has trouble with different media and makes a pretty loud noise if something is not right. That said with good quality media and not excessive use, it should work well. On a final note I read one review where the person returned the item because it jumped out like crocodile, this is normal, gone are the days of motorised release!
