In terms of gaming-focused routers we've got a new king on the throne, with the XR1000 taking the crown from the outgoing XR500. This is a gaming router that leaves little, if anything, to be desired, with a fantastic mix of powerful hardware, empowering software and a stylish new design making it a must-see for any gamer looking for better and faster connectivity in 2021.

I have been using this nighthawk for about a month and it’s not too bad. It handles quite a few devices at one time and it’s only real drawback is the app that netgear wants you to use with it. It is not very consistent in the data it shows you and they need to improve upon that. You can access most things thru the web login page, but it would be much better if they worked on improving the app. It is also pretty fast as far as downloading speeds go -much faster than my previous TP-Link router. I also had an Asus Triband router for a week and it was much better, but it could not handle all my iOT devices without utilizing 84% of its RAM & 34% of its cpu power. It made it run kinda hot -so I took it back & kept the nighthawk in place.

Netgear router is expensive junk. EVERY TIME i need to log into the router as an admin to make a change or check something i get "Access Denied, Access to the requested page has been denied." the only solution is a factory reset. this is the case for both routers i bought. 1 for my self and a 2nd for a client. the firmware is updated every thing should work and this bug happens. this is unacceptable poor quality.

The NETGEAR Nighthawk AX5400 is a decent router if you live in a multi-level home. It provides good coverage throughout your home with speeds fast enough for most high-bandwidth uses like fast downloads and multiple people streaming 4k video. That said, it's a standalone router, so its speeds drop the further you are from it. This means there might be dead zones if your home is very large or has obstacles like concrete or masonry walls. While it has four 1 Gbps LAN ports, it has no multi-gigabit ports. It has a USB 3.0 port for local file sharing.
