TP-LINK AC1900 WLAN Dual Band

Don't usually bother with reviews but this experience deserves some feedback. I bought this item in December 2016 and it really improved my internet experience (especially with gaming - I wrote a post on Reddit recommending buying any good router to get a better connection after I realised how much better I was at first-person shooters when I didn't use the router supplied by my ISP...). However about six weeks ago it just packed up: a couple of lights remained on but there was no other sign of life. I had resigned myself to buying another one when I read about the THREE YEAR guarantee from the manufacturer mentioned by another reviewer. So I called TP-Link in the UK and after going through the steps required by their agent, I was given an RMA number and sent in the broken unit. A couple of days later a (refurbished) unit of their latest model was sent free of charge to me and I'm back to a high-quality internet connection. So thanks TP-Link, I am a doubly happy customer.

I bought this and my first one lasted about 8 hours before it froze and after being turned off wouldn't turn back on. However up till that point it worked very well and seemed to have excellent reception. I now have my second unit which thankfully had lasted a few days now and if it continues to do so would probably warrant the review score being at least 4 stars. The app to monitor the hub is very slick and as I said reception is solid. I can't speak for the parental controls yet but hoping they will be intuitive enough.

Arrived very promptly. Superb router, vastly better than the Netgear it replaced. Good strong wi-fi signal all around the house and the four wi-fi networks has got rid of all the 'buffering' problems on the TV which now has a dedicated network. Only complaint is that the firewall is entirely hidden from administration, it's there but no way to access a log of what it has done nor to change any settings. Have recently changed ISP, so have now got two routers running. The ISP supplied cheap one has a full firewall so I use that to filter the Internet with it's wi-fi turned off and connect the TP-Link to one network socket to run our local wi-fi network. Each router just has one job to do and the combined system works brilliantly.

Works really well in a big house. Only one repeater required in the far corner due to very thick walls. Setup was easy

Had problems with Plusnet wireless router so upgraded to the TP link. You need to configure it to work with Plusnet but this information can be googled. Best upgrade we have ever made. Works a treat. Highly recommended.
