Between seriously powerful suction, a HEPA filter, and the two-hour battery this is one of the best robot vacuums around for sheer cleaning – except in the corners where the round design won’t reach. The problem is simply that it’s lagging behind slightly in smart features, while simultaneously omitting many of the manual controls that other brands continue to offer. Oh, that and the fact that it sounds a bit like a jet engine taking off.

I previously had the Roomba 880 and now I can never go back. This new model is very good at cleaning carpets, well, in my house at least, and hard floors as well. One of the best purchases I've ever made!

The original unit had a faulty home base, but was promptly replaced. The unit works well. However, a few spots still need a quick follow up with a normal vacuum after a clean, typically spots where there wasn't enough space for the robots to navigate through i.e. under tables blocked with chair legs or where pet hair has bound into carpet. Both are dealt with in a matter of minutes. Overall, a job very well done. The bin is usually full after one cleaning round, and sometimes during a round, largely due to pet hair. The auto empty function with the next generation i7+ series could be helpful here, but it only takes a few minutes to empty the bin on a daily basis, so no real issue. Good value for money and a big time saver which works well. Hopefully the unit is robust enough to operate for 5+ years.

Decided on buying the top of the range roomba at a hit to the budget, only to find it gets stuck all the time on our black and red rug which is a feature rug in our lounge. Customer service from roomba said to me that it will not work on a black floor/rug as the sensors think it’s a cliff! Would have been happy if they offered me extra blocking sensors for my trouble but it was only a very short blunt reply I received. wished I had decided on the other models now. Not happy roomba, you would think the top vacuum would be a bit smarter as to not get stuck on a black floor rug!!
