So far the Makita is working good. We have had this one for approximately3-4 months. Our soils are a mix of sandy, loamy, Caliche, you name it, and it definitely saves the backs of the crew members trying to trench for irrigation lines. Having been through several of these lightweight machines in the past 15 years, it is definitely not designed for large rock or rip rap found in the soil, nor asphalt. A jack hammer is a better choice for those uses. The crews have clear instructions not to try to break up larger rocks. Overall it is easy to use, well designed and does what it says, if you stick to the guidelines.

Im a waterproofer and i dont think anyboy is harder on tools then me breaking co crete along the edge of a basement floor this is hands down the shortest demo gun on the market hits just as hard as 1000 and the dewalt 23lb demo gun and has kasted 4 years before its first break down and i inky use it for all the extremely tuffest situations chipping out concrete from under the walks if finished basements and if you have a short area like a crawlspace there's not a gun on the market that i would rather have if had anything negative to say it woukd have to be it does not have the spring loaded shocks like the newer dewalt or the 28lb makita demo gun and believe it or not this gun will get more done the 28 makita unlike that gun this one hits hard the whole time now i would say it is just as good as the 23lb dewalt but i would rather use the dewalt if i have plenty of room to work because of the shocks in the handle

Using this to terrace the hill behind my house. The hill is decomposed granite, clay, and rock! This thing cuts through it like butter!

Bought for son as he had to rent them every time he had to remove tile when he is sent out to install wood. At the cost of renting he said it will pay for itself after a handful of jobs and then his profit will go up. Guess he likes it.

i love this jackhammer, not too loud, strong and lightweight at the same time. I can run it with my 2000W generator.
