HP LaserJet Enterprise M554dn -värilasertulostin, A4, Duplex, valkoinen/musta

I had a difficult time installing the printer, though I have installed countless HP printers over the past 30 years without incident. It had some hiccup it would not let me move past. After much time and research on the internet, I succeeded in circumnavigating the problematic issue and eventually got it working. However, from the start, the printer won't come out of sleep mode without some interaction from me, be it opening and closing a door, pushing buttons or inserting an envelope in the side paper tray. I have reported this three times to HP, went through their online chat process which was a total waste of my time, finally got a warm body to come in and fix the problem, only to have the problem resume a couple of hours later and now for 3 weeks I have been unable to get a response from HP. I have spent a LOT of time and am very frustrated ... and still my printer is not working correctly.

Purchased 9 months ago. It would occasionally reboot itself mid print. At first I assumed it was insufficient power, since it was sharing power with a couple of PCs and seemed to happen when they were also on... but now it's on it's own 20A breaker circuit and still doing it. As an IT guy I've managed and owned many Enterprise HPLJ devices, and this M554dn is the first to behave this way. Maybe it's a lemon, but we'll have to pursue warranty repair with HP. If I had to get another printer, it would not be this model.

I like the printer. Prints clear and fast. However, one of the reasons I chose this printer was because it was supposed to duplex print. It only duplex prints if you feed the second page. Kinda of a bummer for the price. There is no home menu on the printer to see what the settings are. When you go into the software on the computer, there are no settings in the output for 2 sided for automatic duplex prints. The printer software is a little slow **UPDATE** 10.25.24 ... This printer has now stopped printing FAST! IWaites several minutes and the delay is frustrating. I have checked the settings, and it has an automatic energy saver eco mode and they have it set up in the settings where you can't turn it off. Shuts down after not using 1 minute.

So happy with this printer. Copies are top notch, looking like a pro!

I have the previous model, ( 553 ) which could use off brand or re-manufactured cartridges. The difference in price is huge. HP tones will run you north of $400. Off brand will run you about $150. We go through a set every two weeks. Which works out to be a $6500 difference in cost. They say you should not use off brand ink because it could damage your printer. But it would be cheaper to just buy new printers. If HP is going to force us to use their ink they need to come down on the price. By the way in the last two years of use I have not had any problems with the off brand toner.
