Nasomatto Black Afgano on intensiivinen, tumma extrait de parfum, jossa on raskas sekoitus hartseja, puuta, tupakkaa, kahvia ja synteettistä oud-öljyä. Monet käyttäjät kehuvat erityisesti erinomaista kestoa ja selvää hajuvanaa; tuoksu pysyy iholla ja vaatteissa useita tunteja, joskus koko päivän. Samalla luonne on hyvin raskas, savuinen ja maanläheinen, joten osa kokee sen nopeasti liian voimakkaaksi tai tunkkaiseksi, etenkin lämpimässä säässä. Arvostelut osoittavat vahvan kahtiajaon: toiset pitävät sitä mestariteoksena ja erittäin koukuttavana, toiset taas oudoksuvat lääkemäistä tai epämiellyttävää sävyä ja varoittavat sokko-ostosta. Hinta on korkea ja pullo pieni, mikä nostaa kynnystä. Usein mainitaan myös, että lähes musta neste voi värjätä vaaleita kankaita. Syviä, orientaalisia niche-tuoksuja rakastavalle ja ensin testaamaan valmiille tämä voi kuitenkin olla näyttävä signatuurituoksu.

I find this fragrance to be a medley of different woods and resins, with a subtle undertone of oud. While it is an intriguing combination, there is a note, possibly bay leaf, that doesn't resonate well with my personal preferences. In comparison to other fragrances like Duro, I feel that this one falls slightly short. Therefore, I would rate it a 3 out of 5.

Black Afgano to my nose is one part Le Labo Oud 27 and another part Tom Ford Tobacco Oud. Oud 27 has a 'stink' to it that can be described as post cannabis - this is the same effect (although much stronger in Oud 27) with Black Afgano, surrounded by a sweet (hint of honey?) tobacco that is very much reminiscent of Tobacco Oud. My version is admittedly a reformulated one, which I have heard is noticeably diluted (unfortunately). I can imagine the earlier release going toe-to-toe with Interlude Man, the blue beast from Amouage. Overall a lovely entrant in this genre especially it is not a dozen years old and still very relevant.
