SanDisk Extreme PRO 4TB Portable SSD (SDSSDE81-4T00-G25)

As a content creator I use tons of GBs worth of video, audio etc. I write it to one 2023 Sandisk Extreme Pro and back it up with another 2025 Sandisk Extreme Pro . The bytes transfer fast and for the most part both are very stable. I do get an occasional dropped drive (from the 2023 model) which is annoying, but other than that, they are both priceless. I do wish there was a way to get an external drive that would last forever.

Google this issue before you buy it "A problem was detected with the disk that prevents it from being unlocked." It is priced as a premium product with a premium headache, waiting to see how customer service respond to update this review.

You plug the drive in at the USB port, and the PC can no longer see the drive, all data are gone

I bought the Extreme Pro 4TB to connect to my Mac Mini for additional storage of my action cam footage. Every time I tried to use a saved clip in iMovie or any other editing program, the footage was crap! Footage saved on the local HDD worked fine, but as soon as I used the SSD the same clip wasn't usable. Playing movies/clips from the SSD wasn't possible. The clips became blurry and blocky, because the SSD's read speed was tragically slow. Even though SSD should be much faster than my portable HDD, I'm now using this HDD for the camera footage without any issues. The only thing the SSD is good for, is saving documents that don't need a fast connection....but for these kind of files a normal harddisk is much cheaper. All in all I'm very disappointed in the performance of the Sandisk Extreme Pro 4TB.

had it a year and it stopped working...lost data but that was my fault trusting Sandisk
