TP-LINK TL-SX1008 on erittäin nopea 8-porttinen 10G kytkin, joka sopii kotiin tai pieniin toimistoihin, joissa tarvitaan suurta kaistanleveyttä. Asennus on helppoa plug-and-play-toiminnolla, ja kytkin tukee useita nopeuksia eri laitteille. Metallikotelo on kestävä ja sopii telineasennukseen. Tuuletin voi kuitenkin olla kuuluva, mikä voi häiritä hiljaisissa ympäristöissä. SFP+ portit ja hallintaominaisuudet puuttuvat, joten laite ei sovellu monimutkaisiin yritysverkkoihin. Nopeutta ja yksinkertaisuutta hakevalle tämä on vahva valinta.

Minun oli tarkoitus sijoittaa tämä olohuoneeseen. Laitteen käynnistyttyä tajusin, että hiljainen toiminto ja älykäs tuulettimen ohjaus eivät kuulu tähän tuotteeseen. Tuuletin huutaa jatkuvasti vaikka mitään dataa ei siirtäisi talon jokaiseen huoneeseen samassa kerroksessa. Dataa siirrettäessä ehkä vieläkin voimakkaammin. Tuote on varmaan hyvä jos sen voi sijoittaa esim. tekniseen tilaan meluamaan. Jouduin palauttamaan ja etsin vaihtoehtoa. 5 porttisessa versiossa ei olisi ollenkaan tuuletinta.

The TP-Link TL-SX1008 8-Port 10Gbps Multi-Gig Unmanaged Switch would make an excellent switch if it were quieter. While it’s not the nosiest switch I’ve seen, it’s loud enough to be unsuitable in many homes. You can replace this fan with a more quiet one . Other than that, this is a straightforward 10Gbps switch that won’t disappoint in performance. If you have a place where the noise is not an issue, I’d say get it. Make sure you have wired your home , preferably CAT6A cables, and already have a Multi-Gig router .

Good Points: Seems to function well as a switch. My speed tests between two 10Gb ports were the same as the Netgear I wanted to replace. I plugged in two 10Gb, three 2.5Gb and two 1Gb devices which were all seen instantly at the correct speeds. I can't comment on reliability as I didn't leave it in place for very long - see the bad points. Improvement Points: It's noisy, very noisy. It's cooled by one 40mm fan that spins at up to 6800 rpm. What makes it worse is that the noise isn't constant as the fan speed changes with load. This is a known problem (one owner cut a hole in the top of the case so he could use a 120mm fan) but TPLink tech support won't admit it. Not surprising as it would then need fixing. I'm going to investigate replacing the fan without abusing the case too much.....
