The unit operates as it should; really glad for the pitch control when listening to my 30 - 40 year old cassettes.

Overall, this deck isn't too bad. If you're curious about cassettes, and have 350 clams to blow, go for it. It will not play some of my tapes. I still haven't figured out why. My other decks have no problem with those tapes, but my other decks are expertly adjusted vintage decks that are built like tanks compared to this thing. The W-1200 tape transport mechanism is rather cheaply made, but considering what else is available (new), this is easily the best of the bunch.

This is essentially the Tascam 202 MK-VII without the "wings" for the rack mount. The machine is rather new on the market having only been released in late 2017, so.. one can't say much about its durability. But, let's not forget this ia TEAC. This brand is not known for doozy's. I wish it had balanced XLR's to double the RCA's. But.. we'll have to settle for what it is, for now. In all fairness, the $100-extra Tascam twin doesn't have that either. Otherwise.. happy taping! The thing is a winner.

I wanted to transfer hundreds of commercial and personal audio cassettes to wav files and this deck did an even better job than I expected. The sound quality was superb.

If you're just looking to transfer some old cassettes buy one of the cheap models. The tape mechanism is probably the exact same thing. With this you pay for all the bells and whistles but the tape mechanism is the same garbage. I purchased 3 of these (THREE) and all of them had noticeable playback issues on at least one deck. Don't bother with specs actual playback is not on par with a low end vintage deck from a reputable brand (panasonic, sony, aiwa, etc.). It's more in line with a cheapo boombox you would buy at Caldor back in the day (like GPX brand etc.). I really wanted this one to work out.
