Power packed machine. Performance is excellent for multiple displays. Just enough memory to run smaller LLM’s / ollama / whisperx locally. I do regret not saving for 48gb and 64gb but that was my problem, not the machine’s. Microcenter is the best place to purchase Mac’s. Great variety of Mac configs at prices not found anywhere else. Glad to support a brick and mortar retailer catering to enthusiasts.

The Mac Studio is the spiritual successor to the old Power Macs, a decently priced powerful desktop computer. While the storage/ram upgrade prices can be steep - aka the apple tax, the TB5 ports in the back provide options to increase storage. My external storage is as fast as the internal drive. The Mac Studio's fans are whisper quite and the temps even under load are extremely low. My M4 Pro Mini hits the 90c range with the simplest operations where as the Studio will stay in the 70s without the fans needing to ramp to max speed.

I found Microcenter offering this solid engineering workstation at the lowest price. One thing I was disappointed with is the fact that QtPdf doesn’t have support for M[1234] processors. That’s not Apple’s fault.

I updated from 2017 macbook pro and noticed significant improvement. I edit high res photos in multiple bulk and use of AI. I havent experience any lag at all. Very worth it. I am so happy with this purchase. I got the base model Mac studio m4 max and its so worth it since i have my own monitor.
