BenQ TH585P 3500ANSI FHD 1.5-1.65 DLP (9H.JLS77.14E)

The BenQ TH585P projector is a decent choice for gaming and home entertainment, thanks to a low price, short input lag, and good color accuracy and contrast.

The sounds reviews are right on, but AppleTV has a blue tooth out that allowed me to bypass the need for a switch to get the proper volume out of my sound bar. The picture is amazing, and the fan noise is minimal. I am so happy that I did not spend the money just to get better sound out of a piece of hardware who’s purpose is not audio focused.

I kept trying to retake the video because my iPhone doesn’t do the picture justice. Super crisp and clean lighting. Audio works fine, loud enough to use outside. You can barely hear the fan on the projector itself. We hook up our Fire stick to watch Netflix, can’t hook up an IPad with just the USB port though. Have had this for a month, no issues. The screen in the video is 100”, The projector is about 10 feet away just because of our furniture arrangement. Definitely recommend if you’re using it for occasional entertainment. Only wish it had a carrying case or a lens for the projector itself to keep it protected.

TLDR: Much brighter than the HT2050 I replaced, but you'll see more rainbows because of the type of colorwheel. HDMI inputs only, may be a deal breaker for some. I used to only see rainbows in really high action scenes on the HT2050, on the TH585, you'll see them much more frequently. If you know you're sensitive to the color wheel, probably either get a RGBRGB wheel projector instead. Brightness is much better, so I can stand the higher ambient light levels in my south facing room. Direct daylight will still wash it out, but with the blackouts, the small leakage from adjacent rooms isn't nearly as bad.
